My name is Trudi Francis. I grew up in Palmer, Iowa. I graduated from Pocahontas Area Community Schools in 2008. I have always known I've wanted to be a teacher, so I pursued my childhood dream at Buena Vista University where I graduated in 2012. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English and endorsements in K-12 Special education and Reading. I started the Master of Science in Educational Technology Program in the Summer of 2013.
Upon my graduation from Buena Vista University in 2012, I began working as a Kindergarten teacher for Manson Northwest Webster. After my first year of teaching I moved from the Kindergarten to a First Grade Teaching position within the same school district. I am currently getting ready to head back into the First Grade classroom for my fourth year of teaching.
It has always been both a professional and personal goal of mine to receive my Masters Degree. After discussing program options with my colleuges I knew that the MSET program was the one for me. I have been able to implement multiple tools I've learned from the courses in my current classroom. I have also been able to share my research, learning, and strategies with fellow teachers working to implement technology within their unit/lesson plans.
When I am not working I love to spend time with my family and friends. I spend a majority of my time fishing, which is a newly found hobby thanks to my boyfriend Steve. Almost a year ago I purchased my first home and have been living in a construction zone it feels like ever since October. Someday the project list will be done, or atleast smaller! When I am not fishing or working on remodeling, I am kayaking, riding bike, and golfing. I love to be outdoors!
